BORE DRAW

The optimism at Bolton Wanderers created by the three consecutive victories has been halted by the 0-0 draw with Derby County. It was one of the poorest matches of the season for Bolton, as both teams failed to create much opportunities over the 90 minutes.

The three victories had helped Bolton move well clear of the relegation zone, but this draw once again reared its ugly head for the club, which has had an inconsistent start to the New Year. Manager Dougie Freedman, though, says that this was a good point for the club are considering that Derby are one of the top teams in the division right now.

Derby are currently third in the table and are looking to qualify for the Premier league by finishing in the automatic promotion spots. Of course, they have not been in the best runs over the last two weeks. As a result, they have slipped to eight points behind second placed Burnley. However, Freedman says that playing against Derby is always going to be tough since the opposition are extremely physical. Freedman says that the club should target a win from the next four or five matches, which will help them finish the season strongly.

Bolton recently revealed debts in excess of £ 160 million, which would have been unmanageable in the League One.
“Derby was a very physical game but we’ve got the personnel to cope, and we did. Not all games can be like the last couple where we’ve scored all the goals, sometimes we’ve got to knuckle down and the lads have shown fantastic energy and concentration. That’s what you have got to do in the Championship – pick up points here and there and when you’re on a run, win your home games. We go there for the next four out of five games and that’s important,” said Freedman.
